The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is urging the City Health Office thru the City Mayor’s Office to make some pre-emptive purchases of anti-COVID-19 medicines like Remdesivir and Tocilizumab, which are reputed to be helpful to the healing and recovery of patients seriously infected with COVID-19 virus.

The resolution authored by Councilor Renecito Novero said that reportedly Remdesivir and Tocilizumab are usually the ones prescribed in hospitals to patients who have been seriously infected with COVID-19 virus.

In addition to the fact that the supply for Remdesivir and Tocilizumab is very scarce and oftentimes unavailable when urgently needed, their prices are also too high and oftentimes unaffordable to the low-income patients, it said.

The resolution said there is, therefore, a necessity for the city to have pre-emptive purchases of these medicines for the protection of Bacolod City residents who might urgently need them.*
