The Bacolod City Veterinary Office (CVO) has confirmed the passing of a female dog rescued from the fire that struck Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2, on March 5.
Despite receiving immediate medical intervention from the city’s veterinary team, the animal succumbed to its injuries at approximately 11 p.m. that same night.
The medium-sized brown dog, estimated to be between one and two years old, was originally rescued by responding firefighters and turned over to the CVO for urgent care.
While initial assessments showed superficial burn wounds that were promptly cleaned and treated with cool water and medication, the office noted that the dog’s condition deteriorated rapidly.
The CVO explained that animals rescued from such incidents often suffer from delayed complications, including smoke inhalation and extreme physiological stress, which are not always immediately visible.
The office emphasized that this loss serves as a somber reminder of how devastating fire incidents are for both humans and the animals that depend on them.
Authorities are still seeking to identify the dog’s owner and come forward to claim her as soon as possible, and the CVO will proceed with a proper burial.*
