Twenty schools in Negros Occidental have benefitted from the volunteer services of Philippine Army reservists who participated in the Department of Education “Brigada Eskwela”2022 activities.
The reservists are members of the 1803rd Ready Reserve Brigade led by its commander, Lt. Col. Suzette Agustin and 605th Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion headed by Lt. Col. Isabelo delos Reyes, all under the supervision of the 605th Community Defense Center, 6th Regional Community Defense Group, Philippine Army.
Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said that Army Reservist manpower services were instrumental in the cleaning, re-painting, and repair of the school facilities, in tandem with the PNP, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Philippine Coast Guard, other private stakeholders who contributed their time, efforts and resources in ensuring that public schools are all set for face to face class opening.
In a statement, Pasaporte appreciated the commendable efforts of the Philippine Army Reservists in Negros, adding that they serve with sincerity even without regular salary or allowances from the government.
As they perform their task, they always bring positive vibes as we can see them actively participating in Brigada Eskwela activity, he said, noting also that their spirit of volunteerism drives them to push harder, to do their best in contributing for the good of the community, especially the students.
The Army Reservists officers and enlisted personnel participated in the Brigada Eskwela activity with the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral” in different schools in Negros Island, which kicked off on August 1 and will run until August 26.*
