Sipalay City, the Jewel of the South, has come up with activities to encourage residents and even those who visited the locality to promote the city as part of its 14th Tourism Month celebration.

Themed “Safe and Secured Sipalay”, the activities include photo, video, and vlog contests, where winners can take home cash prizes and certificates.

The city government recently extended the temporary ban on the entry of tourists until September 15. This includes tourism-related and non-essential travel to the city.

For the 1st Sipalay City Emagina photo contest, residents or tourists who have been to the city are eligible to join.

There will be three categories: conventional, mobile, and drone, while themes could focus on sunsets, undiscovered treasures, natural or man-made attractions, or daily lives of the locals exhibiting the spirit of unity or community building.

Entries must be submitted on or before September 21 at 5 p.m. Submission may be done through the handing of the photo file to the Sipalay City Tourism Development and Promotion Office, or through email at sipalaycity_tourism@yahoo.com.ph.

For the 1st Sipalay Tourism Video and Vlog contests, Sipalaynon vloggers and video hobbyists are eligible to join.

The video entries must be a travel vlog where there is a host or vlogger guiding the viewers, and that the video must showcase Sipalay as a tourist destination featuring everything about the city, including attractions, sites, foods, activities, events, and other tourism assets.

There should be emphasis on tourism under the “new normal” which includes the precautionary measures and safety guidelines while traveling.

It must also promote the concept of responsible travel which must show the principles of being a mindful traveler, especially environmental awareness, and that only tourism-ready attractions or sites that are classified as open for the general tourists must be featured in the video.

Also, the video must include the statements “Safe and Secured Sipalay”, “Sustainable Sipalay”, and “Wow Sipalay”.

Interested participants must pre-register and fill out the entry form at https://bit.ly/2ES2Y7K.

Only one entry per group, individual, or establishment is allowed.

Entries must be submitted on or before September 28 at 5 p.m. at the Sipalay City Tourism Development and Promotion Office at the New Government Center in Barangay Gil Montilla, or through email at sipalaycity_tourism@yahoo.com.ph.*
