Homicide charges were filed yesterday by the police against Ulysis Carampatana, one of the injured survivors in the armed confrontation at a restobar in Brgy. Singcang Airport, Bacolod City, on November 16, in connection with the death of PFC Edmark Iwayan, a member of the Philippine Army.

This was confirmed last night by Bacolod City Police Office Director PCol. Thomas Joseph Martir, saying the filing of homicide charges was recommended by Police Station 8 commander, PMaj. Joery Puerto.

Carampatana and his companion, John Joseph Magahum, restobar owner Jobert Visem and PFC Joeber Villagracia, were all injured in the shooting incident.

Heated arguments between Carampatana, reportedly a gun enthusiast, and Visem, owner of the To-Lips restobar, reportedly triggered the armed confrontation, police investigations showed.

Recovered from the scene of incident were a caliber .45 pistol with serial number 019596AFP and five fired cartridges, five deformed slugs and 11 empty shells of a 9mm pistol.

The three other companions of Carampatana already surrendered to the Police Station 8, according to Puerto.

Police investigations showed that Iwayan succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, while Visem also had a gunshot injury.*
