Retired teacher holds exhibit at own gallery

Talisay visual artist Pablita Nava with her artworks on nature*

A retired teacher is holding an ongoing solo art exhibition in her 2-storey art gallery in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Pablita “Ablit” Solatorio-Nava’s show titled “Nature” features over 50 pieces of old and recent paintings in oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, and pen. The subjects of her recent works include flowers, seascapes, landscapes, and farm scenes.

Nava started building her gallery made of native materials in 2013 after retiring from Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (formerly Paglaum State College), where she taught Architectural Drafting and Drawing subjects.

It was during the pandemic when she focused her time on finishing her art gallery and creating more artwork which has been her passion and a form of therapy, she said.

Nava has also participated in several art exhibitions in Bacolod City organized by the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, where she is an active member.*
