A retired teacher was stabbed dead on February 13, while her 13-year-old granddaughter sustained injuries but survived the attack at their residence in Purok Paho, Brgy. Poblacion, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.

Nancy Oliverio, a 61-year-old retired teacher, succumbed to multiple stab wounds and was reported by the police, to have been declared dead on arrival at the Cauayan District Hospital.

Her 13-year-old granddaughter, whose identity was withheld by the authorities, reportedly suffered injuries at the stomach and her face.

Initial police investigations showed that the unidentified suspect, armed with a knife, entered the room of the victims and stabbed them.

Another minor, who was also sleeping with the two victims, was unhurt as she was reported to have been able to hide and escape during the attack.

On the other hand, a minor is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, after he was tagged as a suspect in the stabbing to death of Mark Liboon on Sunday at Purok 4 in Brgy Nabali-an, Himamaylan City.

Liboon, 19, was declared dead on arrival at the Valeriano Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital in Himamaylan City, according to the police.

The stabbing of Liboon took place after he tried to pacify a commotion, that involved the suspect, a minor, and his friend, Mark Tyrence Denajeba.

The 17-year-old suspect, who was arrested, is now under the custody of DSWD, where he was turned over by the police.*
