Several drivers and backriders in Bacolod have been issued citation tickets for violating City Ordinance 832, which regulates “riding in tandem” on motorcycles.
Bacolod City Police Office Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica confirmed the issuance of the citation tickets due to the failure of the drivers and backriders to comply with the ordinance.
The ordinance states that riding in tandem from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. is unlawful.
Coronica clarified that implementing the ordinance will not provide the complete solution to the recent shooting incidents in Bacolod, but it helps control individuals who may have bad intentions or plans.
He also stressed that not everyone will be apprehended during the implementation, as the ordinance has exemptions.
These include situations involving emergencies, and individuals who are required to travel for work during the nighttime, including call enter agents, security force, or other similar line of work.
However, they are required to present a valid identification.
The BCPO reminded everyone to abide by City Ordinance 832 to avoid receiving citation tickets and to ensure the safety and security of the city.*
