The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement a temporary road closure of major roads surrounding the Capitol Lagoon and Park on January 13, in connection with the nationwide Rally for Peace by the Iglesia Ni Cristo.
Jose Antonio Robello, deputy BTAO head said that the road closure will start from the Cottage Road fronting the SSS building up to the 15th Street along Lacson Street.
He pointed out that the temporary road closure is covered by a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Robello said the trafficking rerouting plan for the event will follow the same route implemented during the MassKara Festival.
Those going to the north of the city will turn left toward the Cottage Road going to Gatuslao Street and their respective destinations.
Commuters coming from the south will use the BS Aquino Drive then turn left to Gatuslao, which will be a one-way.
The BTAO will enforce a one-way traffic scheme at Aguinaldo to BS Aquino Drive.
He added that a total of 75 traffic enforcers will be deployed to the area to manage the traffic.
Robello said about 20,000 members of the INC are expected to attend the event that will be simultaneously held in major locations nationwide.
Members from the church’s districts in San Carlos, Bacolod City, Valladolid, Kabankalan City and Negros Oriental will converge in Bacolod City on Monday.
Road closures will be implemented from 6am to 12 midnight.*
