A road crash along the national highway, in Barangay San Teodoro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, during Christmas Day, ended in a seizure of more than half a million pesos in shabu after the suspects ran away from police responders.
Initial investigation by Binalbagan Municipal Police Station disclosed that a road crash incident was reported where the driver lost control of a Toyota Wigo vehicle, causing it to strike roadside structures and a mango tree, resulting in significant damage.
Police immediately arrived at the scene; however, upon the arrival of police responders, the suspects evaded them, attempting to flee the scene by riding a tricycle, but were later apprehended at Crossing Bag-o, Barangay San Jose.
The police thought of the reason why both suspects were evading the responders, prompting them to check a black backpack which led to the recovery of suspected illegal drugs weighing approximately 80 grams with a standard drug price of P544,000.
Arrested were alias ‘Anthon,’ 35, a high-value individual, and alias ‘Phil,’ 26. Both are residents of Barangay 2, Kabankalan City.
The confiscated items will be forwarded to the Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination, while the suspects remain under police custody and will face criminal charges in violation of RA9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.*
