Vice President Leni Robredo will be in southern Negros Occidental today for the ceremonial turnover of shelter starter kits to 250 families, whose homes were destroyed by super Typhoon Odette in December last year.
This was disclosed by former Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, campaign manager of Robredo for Negros Occidental and concurrent provincial chair of the Robredo People’s Council.
Coscolluela said the Office of the Vice President will undertake the project with the Negros Volunteers for Change led by Millie Kilayko.
From the Bacolod-Silay Airport, the vice president’s party will proceed to Sipalay City, where the turnover program for 50 family-recipients will be held at Purok Lubi, Barangay Gil Montilla and then to 45 more beneficiaries in Brgy. Mambugsay, Cauayan.
Also to receive housing materials from Robredo are 50 families in Kabankalan City, 45 in Hinoba-an and 30 families each from Candoni and Ilog towns, Coscolluela, who is also the provincial chair of the Robredo’s People Council (RPC) said
The shelter kits to be distributed to 250 families valued at P6,250,000.
RPC Negros Occidental operations officer Edwin Nacionales also reported that thousands of “pink warriors” are expected to join the caravan also on February 5 during the opening of Robredo’s campaign center in Hinigaran town.
Nacionales added that they are expecting a huge turnout as many Bacolod-based pink volunteers already signified interest to join the activity that will also be attended by local political leaders and multi-sectoral groups.*
