The Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara extended assistance to the families in Brgy. Biak na Bato, La Castellana, that were seriously affected by ashfall and sulphuric fumes as a result of Kanlaon Volcano’s phreatic eruption.
At a meeting with La Castellana mayor, Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, Club members donated thousands of face masks and a supply of bottled water for the affected families.
In addition, the club provided large capacity plastic water containers, following the offer of free water from a local water filling station.
Club president Dr. Eric Malo-oy said club members will be returning to La Castellana shortly with more assistance for the affected families.*
