An indigent family in Victorias City received a helping hand this week from the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara, when club members delivered rice and other essential food items to their home.

The family, from Bugtong Lubi in Barangay 6, is headed by Joel Java, a 55-year-old single parent. He supports his four children primarily as a paid barangay tanod. One of his children suffers from a medical condition, but financial constraints prevent Mr. Java from affording hospital care.

The donations were part of the “Adopt a Victoriasanon” program initiated by the City of Victorias, aimed at providing crucial support to families in need. This program invites local businesses, social and civic organizations, and individuals to sponsor families by offering essential resources such as food and clothing.

Club President Virgil “Igie” Villarosa, PhD led the delivery of the donated food items to the family’s home. He said “the magic of Rotary is connecting the need and the donor. The club has had the opportunity to provide support to a needy family in a very meaningful way.”*
