Businessman Ricardo “Cano” Tan proudly received a plaque of recognition from the Rotary Club of Bacolod East, part of Rotary International District 3850, under the leadership of President Jesreel Maglucot, said a press release from Rotary East.

The plaque honors the “Manok ni Cano Gwapo” for being recognized as the world’s largest building shaped like a chicken, which serves as a global tourism icon and symbolizes Filipino resilience and ingenuity.

The same resolution will be forwarded to the Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Christina Garcia Frasco, urging her and agency heads to officially declare “Manok ni Cano Gwapo” as an icon of the Philippines.

This structure is the first and only iconic landmark recognized by the Guinness World Records since its establishment in the Philippines.

The Rotary Club of Bacolod-East officers further moved for the Tourism Secretary to include the “Manok ni Cano Gwapo” as a flagship tourism icon and a landmark destination in Negros Occidental, promoting it as a key site to showcase the Philippines to a global audience.*
