It was another busy weekend for members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara and the Rotaract Club of Marapara.

On Saturday, led by Marapara Rotary president Rolando Corona, members planted mangrove seedlings in Brgy. Banago with volunteers from the Philippine Coast Guard, maritime police, fire officers, Bacolod tugboat crews and local and DENR officials.

Working with RAM Guardians and Bacolod tugboat crews, members collected several tons of unsightly trash from Brgy. 35 in Bacolod City’s Reclamation Area on Sunday.

“We are pleased to be able to continue with these activities to help local coastal areas. Mangroves really do matter, especially in stabilizing shorelines, preventing erosion and protecting the land. And off course, we all want to have a clean environment,” said Marapara president Rolando Corona.

More mangrove planting and coastal clean-up activities are planned for next month.*
