Six bartenders and students from Bacolod City participated in the Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival flairtending and mixology elimination round at the Planta Hotel in the city yesterday.
They were Gemoel Khryss Guanzon of Refill Restobar, Jeffrey Tingoy of Barholics Mobile Bar Bacolod, Kate Jaraiza Tecson of the University of St. La Salle, Orlan Mata Desucatan of VMA Global College, Jude Ernest Barcelona of VMA, and Harry Servancia of Kampo Hiyang Haiyang.
Judges were Chef BJ Uy, Mikell Andrew Montelibano and Charmaine Pahate.
Also present was Bacolod Councilor Em Ang, author of the Bacolod Rum Festival Ordinance.
Furthermore, food park organizer Joan Visitacion yesterday invited the public to the longest food park at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds, measuring about 100 feet long.
Visitacion said there are about 12 international and local dishes infused with rum being offered at the food park such as Japanese, Korean, Singaporean and Chinese cuisine.
There are also food carts and food trucks for those who want to enjoy street food, as well as a 300-foot grilling area behind the government center, she said.
Visitacion said the food park is open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and might extend until Sunday. People can enjoy acoustic music, sound-off, and busking from young local talents at the food park.
Other ongoing activities in the second Tanduay Bacolod Rum Festival include the barrel art competition, bottle art competition, street art (mural) competition, culinaria competition, and a music festival on Saturday.*
