Sagay City National High School (SCNHS) bagged two championship titles in the Northern District Robotics Competition held yesterday in Cadiz City.
SCNHS students emerged as champions in both the Project Innovative Ideas and Mission Challenge categories.
Victorias City’s Negros Occidental National Science HS clinched the championship in Line Tracing category, while Quezon NHS from San Carlos City outperformed 31 competitors in the Sumobot category.
A noteworthy highlight was the debut of Toboso NHS participants, which made an impressive first appearance by placing in the Top 10 for Line Tracing and achieving Top 6 finish in Sumobot, a press statement from the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) said.
Present during the 4-day hackathon and competition were Vice Mayor John Vincent Escalante together with councilors, Frances Guanzon, Marlon Metoda, Claire Therese Consing, Fria Cristine Cervantes-Napiza, Kathrina Kaye Balbin, Lalen Lamis, Paulene Decolongon, Cedric Jon Olvido, Maricel Desoyo, and Vicente Tabanao.
The districtwide competition was organized by the Office of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson through the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC) and the Pinoy Robot Games, in partnership with the Office of Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., LEIPO Head Lyn Regodos and the Department of Education Cadiz City Division.
At the elementary level, San Carlos City schools dominated, with Ramon Magsaysay Elementary School, School of the Future and Tandang Sora ES bagged the championship titles in line tracing, sumobot and mission challenge.
The top five winners in the northern district will advance to the 5th Battle of Bots Provincial Level Competition, scheduled for September 30 to October 2. This event marked the final leg in Cadiz City from September 22-25. Each winner received medals, cash prizes, and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
Winners in the high school level were: Sumobot champion – Joric Gil Sina-on (Quezon NHS); 2nd place – Elaiza Rabacal (Sagay City NHS); 3rd place – Sofia Grace Buendia (Negros Occidental National Science HS); 4th place – Mat Jacob Andaya (Sagay City NHS); and 5th place – Lyn Taganile (Sagay City NHS);
Line Tracing champion – Nojee Ellian Caro (Negros Occidental NHS); 2nd place – John Mattew Porsuelo (Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial NHS); 3rd place – Richmond Nobleza (Escalante NHS); 4th place – Alexxia Provencion (Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial NHS); and 5th place – Miguel Carbellido (Sagay NHS);
Mission Challenge champion – Gian Klein Atiporta (Sagay City NHS); 2nd place – John Carl Boque (Julio Ledesma NHS); 3rd place – Matthew Josh Palo (Eusebio Lopez NHS); 4th place – Dzanyvien Rafaeli Paculanang (Escalante NHS); and 5th place – Zairel Macatonao (Negros Occidental NHS);
Innovative Project Ideas champion – Johann Leigh Monteclaro and Yaella Rose Briones (Sagay NHS); 2nd place – Franz Russell Inocencio and Mark Jofil Esmalla (Sagay NHS-Main); 3rd place – Hans Christian Espanton and Ichiro Niño Desuyo (Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial NHS); 4th place – Vince Emman Magaman and Chad Ricki Dequita (Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial NHS); and 5th place – Theo Condevillamar and Sahara Martinne Ronn Gayares (Negros Occidental National Science HS).
Winners in the elementary level competition were: Line Tracing champion – Chris Jebber Ortega (School of the Future); 2nd place – Jhae Kyoom Posadas (SPED Training Center); 3rd place – Julianna Jai Olis (Victorias ES); 4th place – Raan Jedy Ulgasan (School of the Future); and 5th place – Marcus John Dingding (Tandang Sora ES);
Sumobot champion – Kaniel Prince Luke Broce (Ramon Magsaysay ES); 2nd place – Yhuan Paul Penalosa (Ramon Magsaysay ES); 3rd place – Shiekha Cassandra Bagotayao (Victorias North ES); 4th place – Chloe Margarette Sy (School of the Future); and 5th place – Zylert Caballero (Victorias ES);
Mission Challenge champion – Paul Gabriel Gepitulan (Tandang Sora ES); 2nd place – Samuel Wise Mahinay (School of the Future); 3rd place – Andrew Thomaz Sultan (School of the Future); 4th place – Venriel Alexis Lariosa (School of the Future); and 5th place – Guian Gabriela Moira Gepitulan (Ramon Magsaysay ES).
