
Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr. led the turnover of housing units to 146 families from six barangays, during a ceremony held on May 30 at Taliambong Activity Center in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
Javelosa, in his speech disclosed the housing project was started during previous administrations, and he vowed to expedite the distribution to indigent Sagaynons by giving out at least 150 housing units a month.
“What I ask from you is to take care of these houses and ensure cleanliness, peace and order among your neighborhood,” Javelosa told the beneficiaries.
Based on records from NHA, they are distributing 146 housing units this month with 72 in the Old Sagay Site in Brgy. Old Sagay, 62 in Paraiso Heights in Brgy. Paraiso, and 12 in Pueblo del Mar in Brgy. Rafaela Barrera.
The beneficiaries came from Barangays Old Sagay, Taba-ao, Himogaan Baybay, Paraiso, Malubon, and Rafaela Barrera, records showed.
Apart from the Mayor, Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva, Councilors Sherwin Sy, Perfecto Marañon, Felisa Dela Cruz, Ching Javellana, Lura Javelosa, and City Administrator Ryan Bonghanoy also attended the program.
The event was spearheaded by the officials and staff from the National Housing Authority in Sagay City.
Javelosa reported that they had already distributed about 400 housing units in his first term as a mayor.
With the help of NHA and City Administrator’s Office, the mayor said they are hoping to process the applications faster.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva said that the housing project is for every family and for their kids to have a better living situation.
“This is our dream to provide everyone a decent housing and we hope that you help in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the communities,” Cueva said.*MLG
