The City Government of Sagay launched an android mobile application and a booklet of the restaurants and coffee shops that will serve as a guide to the gastronomic offerings in the city.

The “Where to Dine in Sagay City” booklet and mobile application, unveiled last Thursday at the Sagay City Public Plaza, features 33 restaurants, coffee and refreshment shops, delicacy stores, and other go-to food parlors, a first of its kind in North Negros.

The unveiling was led by Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva and Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee Chairperson on Tourism Arthur Christopher Marañon, together with the City Information and Tourism Officer Helen Cutillar and City Information Technology Office Head Kenneth Ian Rivera and all the restaurant and coffee shop owners in the city.

The booklet and the mobile application features the list of most of the food establishments in the city, their locations, list of food offerings and refreshments, and contact numbers for delivery around Sagay.

Vice Mayor Cueva said that this one-of-a-kind project will help the boost of the tourism industry in the city after the pandemic, adding that he has not seen any of this program from neighboring cities.

Councilor Marañon also said the through legislation, he will ensure that more projects on boosting the tourism industry will be made and this initiative of creating a directory of food establishments in the city is important as it showcases the variety of food offerings to tourists visiting Sagay.

Councilors Rodnel Delos Reyes, Ching Javellana, Chris Javelosa, Felisa Dela Cruz, Lura Javelosa, and Sherwin Sy, Executive Assistant Junjun Fuentesfina, City Engineer Jezreel Alingco, and representatives from Rotary Club of Sagay-Sinigayan also attended the program.

Donjie Espino, who spoke in behalf of Rotary Club of Sagay President Benson Fernandez, said that community development is one of the thrusts of their organization and pledge to continue supporting such programs to pursue growth in the city.

The creation of the restaurant and accommodation establishments was started by CITO and IT offices during the pandemic to help the owners recover from the toll of the health crisis through the campaign #RecoverTogether.

Video features and online campaigns were also done through the city’s social media platforms to help them in promoting their services to the Sagaynons and neighboring cities and towns.

After the booklet on restaurants and cafes, CITO also plans to create a directory for accommodation establishments in Sagay City.*
