Vice Mayor Leo Rafael Cueva and Sangguniang Panlungsod officials led the first public hearing on the proposed “Anti-Plastic Ordinance” at the Balay Kauswagan, in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on October 10.
Vice Mayor Cueva stressed the importance of the ordinance, adding that it aligns with the city government’s conservation efforts and the welfare of the ocean and communities.
He urged everyone to actively support this ordinance and to do their share at homes, in the workplace, and in the communities.
SP Committee Chairperson on Environment Councilor Arthur Christopher Maranon urged everyone to support the ordinance as this will help reduce plastic debris that contributes to the degradation of our ocean.
Maranon also added we needed to keep our City clean for the future and health of our children.
Present also were Councilors Sherwin Sy, Felisa de la Cruz, Engr Rodnel de los Reyes, Engr Roldan Gamao, Lura Javelosa and Concepcion Javellana. SCENRO Head Mayo Antonio Cueva and Sagay City police chief PLt. Col. John Mocyat Jr also attended.
The hearing was attended by 81 representatives from various stakeholders like restaurant owners, vendors, barangay representatives, among others, a press statement from the Sagay City Public Information Office said.*
