A total of 231 Sagaynon women availed of the free OB-Gyne services during the community service and surgical mission of the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) Negros Occidental chapter, in partnership with Second District Congressional Office and Sagay City LGU, at the Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital, in Sagay City, Sunday.
Thirty-six OB-GYNE doctors from all over Negros Occidental, headed by Dr. Jesette Granada, POGS Negros Occidental Chapter President and six anesthesiologists, together with some nurses, shared their time and expertise during the outreach activity.
Seven major operations, including hysterectomies and five minor gynecologic operations, were performed during the surgical mission.
A total of 90 women availed of free ultrasound, 54 had free pre-natal services, 46 for gynecological consultation, 21 for Pap Smear, and 8 for VIA.
Apart from surgeries and OB-Gyne consultations, the doctors also gave lectures on breastfeeding and family planning, pre-natal care and nutrition.
They also showed infomercials on common gynecologic conditions to the women who availed their free services.
Mayor Narciso “Narwin” Javelosa Jr. expressed his thanks to POGS Negros Occidental for this immense blessing to the women of Sagay.
