It was the dream of former Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to have a private cemetery in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
His wish was finally fulfilled on July 18 with the opening of the Heavenly Hills Memorial Park, a joint venture of the LS PRAMMANI Realty and Development Corporation and the Marañon family of the Heavenly Hills Corporation.
Dr. Marilyn Marañon, the former governor’s widow, led the ceremonial soft opening of the 2.5-hectare park in Sagay City, along with Emilia Abelido, the matriarch of the Abelido clan that owns LS PRAMMANI.
“This is the legacy of my late husband,” Marañon said, adding that they are happy to have found a developer in LS PRAMMANI to finally realize the late governor’s wishes.
Niko Abelido, who spoke in behalf of the developers, said this project establishes three things, “a wish fulfilled, the building of a legacy, and creating hope for the future.”
“This park is a joint venture between two families whose visions aligned at the right time. It was the late Governor Marañon’s wish that a privately owned memorial park in Sagay city be put up. Around the same time, our own family’s realty corporation was being created with the vision of giving Negrense families opportunities and access to better real estate products and services,” Abelido said.
He added that through this joint venture, “we hope to not only build a better place to remember our loved ones, but to also stir up the socio-economic activity in this growing city.”*
