The motive in the killing of a person who was believed to be a salvage victim in Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, remains a mystery to police probers as of this time.
The victim was identified by the Himamaylan City police as Levy Ortega, 46, of Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City.
Ortega was forcibly taken by armed men from his residence on Saturday night, based on the police investigations.
He was found dead on Sunday along the highway of Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City.
Ortega was found hogtied, his head covered with a bonnet and wrapped with masking tape. He succumbed to gunshot wounds, according to the Himamaylan City police.
The victim may have been shot and dumped in the area, as residents heard gunshots, police added.
Recovered from the scene of incident were two fired bullets of .45 caliber pistol, as well as two fired cartridges of 5.56 mm firearm and .45 caliber pistol.
A cardboard with a written message “Kap Macoy, nasa iyo pala si Bebot Murillo at si Boy Tapang… See you next time… By JJ” was recovered near the head of the victim.
PLt. Abegael Donasco, deputy spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said that they are still investigating if the incident was election-related, since the name of a candidate in the May 9 elections was written on the cardboard recovered at the crime scene.*
