San Carlos gov’t employee sportsfest kicks off

San Carlos City government, through the Office for Human Resource Management (OHRM), kicked off the month-long Sports Festival in line with the 122nd Civil Service Commission Anniversary at the City Sports Park Monday.

Among the sports to be played by government workers include volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis and table tennis where winners will receive cash prizes and trophies after the event.

Councilor JB Spring Bacurnay, committee chair on sports and youth affairs, on behalf of Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona, said that the festival is one venue to promote wellness and camaraderie among government workers and that work-life balance is needed to maintain happy and diligent workers in the service of government and society; encouraged government employees to participate in the sporting events.

Rouel Riantoco, local disaster risk reduction management officer of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), led the oath of sportsmanship, while Jesus Facundo Combate Jr., executive assistant and in charge of the City Sports Office, formally declared the opening of the Sports Festival.

On the other hand, Luzvisminda Porquez, records officer of the OHRM, presented the participating teams while Bacurnay and Combate led the ceremonial serve for badminton.

The sports festival carries the theme “Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future Ready Servant – Heroes.”*
