The San Carlos City government, through Mayor Renato Gustilo, turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) – San Carlos, the rehabilitated school building of Maglunod Elementary School (MES) in Barangay Quezon Monday.

Project engineer Leur Virtucio said that the rehabilitated Marcos Type building cost around P1.7 million with three rooms – two teaching rooms and one teachers’ facility – that can cater to up to 30 students per room.

The project started in April 2022 and was finished June 2022.

Gustilo congratulated the school faculty on their newly refurbished building and shared that if they have requests or concerns, they may approach Councilor Victoriana Cabili or Schools Division Supt. Anthony Liobet, or Punong Barangay Roberto Tuting, since Cabili and Liobet have more expertise in this field while Tuting knows the area more.

He added that they can give them advice on the different needs for the school before approaching him for further action.

Elenita Piala, principal of MES, thanked the local government for giving them a comfortable learning area for their students and teachers, especially with the return of the face-to-face classes where more than 200 students were enrolled compared to last year’s.

Piala also opened up about other concerns in the school including flooding which were discussed among the city officials present and the teachers.*
