Sancho all praises for Negros Power

Negros Power is the heartbeat of development in Negros Island Region (NIR), according to a statement by Power Watch Negros Advocates Inc. secretary general Wennie Sancho.

It is a fact that we could not move on towards greater heights in terms of progress and development, unless we have a reliable, efficient and stable electric power system. Stability in power supply, coupled with competitive electricity rates attracts commercial and industrial investment that shall generate jobs and opportunities for the people, he said.

Only recently, the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod registered double-digit economic growth in 2023, making them the fastest growing economies in Western Visayas, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Negros Occidental retained its position as the largest contributor to the regional economy accounting for 25.7 percent of the P 1.02 trillion Regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Sancho said.

The economic growth of Bacolod and Iloilo in 2023 can be partly attributed to the reliable power supply provided by MORE Power in Iloilo and Negros Power in Negros Occidental. In Bacolod City, Negros Power’s investment of nearly P2 Billion in upgrading CENECO distribution facilities aims to replicate the success of MORE Power’s power upgrading program in Iloilo. This investment is expected to reduce electricity rates, improve reliability and enhance customer service in Bacolod City, he claimed.

Negros Power’s commitment to reliable, sustainable and affordable energy, supports the economic growth and development of Bacolod City and Negros Occidental. By acknowledging challenges, explaining causes of power outages and highlighting efforts to improve, Negros Power can maintain transparency and demonstrate commitment to reliability of power supply in achieving its position as the “heartbeat of development,” he added.

Sancho declared that Negros Power is the “heartbeat of development” in the Negros Island Region (NIR) because in the long run, Negros Power will be empowering progress, energizing communities and enhancing quality of life. It is the heartbeat of development pulsing energy and possibility.

Negros Power is the heartbeat of development by powering up industries and businesses and innovation hubs. It also guards our healthcare by energizing hospitals, clinics and medical facilities, the statement added.

Negros Power is the spark that ignites progress. It is an illuminating force shining for a bright future. It brings light to every home and communities, illuminating paths for prosperity and development. It is a spark of hope, empowering communities through education and training. It illuminates schools, libraries and learning centers so that education would go on unhampered, he claimed further.

On this Christmas Season, the vibrant light of Negros Power, is illuminating love, peace and hope, energizing compassion enhancing lives. Negros Power is powering progress fueled by love in the spirit of Christmas. In the celebration of the New Year to come, Negros Power shall remain as the heartbeat of development, progress and prosperity, the statement praising the power company concluded.*
