The road to greatness continues as the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) brings together the region’s most promising young basketball talents for the highly anticipated SBP U16 Pambansang Tatluhan Zone 7 Finals on May 9-10, at Robinsons Place Dumaguete.
With energy, pride, and passion expected to fill the court, the tournament will feature the best young 3×3 teams from across Zone 7 battling for supremacy and a coveted spot in the next stage of the national competition. A total of 16 teams each for the Boys’ and Girls’ divisions will compete in a fast-paced showcase of skill, teamwork, and heart, according to a press release.
Open to athletes 16 years old and below (born January 1, 2010 and beyond), the tournament highlights SBP’s continuing commitment to grassroots basketball development and its mission to create more opportunities for Filipino youth through sport.
More than just a competition, the Zone Finals represent dreams in motion – a platform where young athletes can test their limits, build confidence, and inspire their communities. Every possession, every hustle play, and every shot made brings these players one step closer to bigger opportunities on the national stage.
The stakes become even higher as the winning teams advance to the SBP U16 Pambansang Tatluhan 2026 National Finals scheduled this June in Metro Manila. In line with SBP’s commitment to supporting grassroots athletes, participation in the national finals will be all-expense-paid by the federation, giving young players a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete against the country’s top youth teams on a bigger stage.
Fans and supporters can expect two thrilling days of intense action, electrifying matchups, and unforgettable moments as the region’s rising stars leave everything on the court in pursuit of victory.
The event also reflects the growing momentum of 3×3 basketball in the country, a discipline that continues to open doors for young Filipino athletes while promoting speed, creativity, and inclusivity in the game.
SBP Zone 7 leadership encourages basketball enthusiasts, families, schools, and local communities to come out and support the competing teams as they proudly represent their cities and provinces in one of the region’s premier youth basketball events.
More than simply sending teams to a national tournament, the initiative reflects SBP’s continuing commitment to making basketball opportunities accessible to young athletes across the country, especially in regional and provincial communities where exposure and pathways to higher-level competition are often limited.
Through programs like the Pambansang Tatluhan, SBP continues to bring the game closer to grassroots communities – discovering talent, empowering young athletes, and proving that dreams can begin far beyond the bright lights of Metro Manila.
By investing in tournaments at the regional level and supporting teams all the way to national competition, SBP reinforces its mission of ensuring that every aspiring Filipino player, regardless of location or background, has a genuine opportunity to grow, compete, and be seen on a bigger stage.*
