SCAR holds 1st MRYG airsoft tournament

The San Carlos Airsoft Regiment (SCAR), in cooperation with the local government unit of San Carlos through its City Tourism Office, held its 1st Mayor Rene Y. Gustilo Speed Close Quarter Battle Airsoft Tournament ‐ Operation Gyera sa Paseo on July 10 at Centermall, La Riqah Area in the city.

The eight participating teams that joined the competition were Toledo Airsoft Group (TAG), Sipat, SS Sagay-Cadiz, Ice Water, Gears, A.S.S. Down South Iloilo, Monkeys, Wardogs, and Victorias Airsoft Movement (VAM).

TAG of Toledo City emerged as champion, while A.S.S Down South Iloilo was first runner-up and VAM of Victorias City, second runner-up. They brought home P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 cash prizes, respectively.

Special awards were also given to TAG for Best in Maneuver, SS Sagay for Best in Sportsmanship, Wardogs of Silay for Best in Time and Best in Loadout for Ice Water.

All winners received trophies, while all participating teams received certificate of participations.

John Ray Valle, SCAR president, thanked the city officials led by City Mayor Renato Gustilo, Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona and Sanguniang Panlungsod members for their full support. He also expressed gratitude to all the participating teams for their efforts and cooperation.

Valle said that the tournament aimed at promoting and strengthening camaraderie among airsoft community, especially after the tournament where several lessons were learned particularly for the players, coordinators and umpires.

He said he also aspires for more tournaments to follow the said event, especially in the upcoming Pintaflores Festival in November.

Participating teams hailed from the cities of Toledo, Cebu, Sagay, Cadiz, Silay, Iloilo, Bacolod, Victorias, Guilhulngan, and the municipality of Vallehermoso.

The event was also in line with the 62nd Charter Day Celebration of San Carlos City on July 1.*
