• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The conduct of search warrant operations on June 4 across Negros Island Region led to the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of unlicensed firearms and illegal drugs.

Police intelligence operatives nabbed a 41-year-old construction worker, alias Rust, for illegal possession of firearms at Hacienda Tagud in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The arrested suspect, according to the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region, allegedly used the firearm recovered firearm, an improvised 5.56mm pistol with three ammunition, in his illegal activities.

During the implementation of the search warrant, the police further recovered three sachets of suspected shabu and its assorted paraphernalia.

In a separate police operation on June 5, policemen also arrested a 53-year-old resident of Barangay Abante, Pamplona, identified only by the alias “Ger,” for illegal possession of a firearm.

The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by a concerned citizen alleging that the suspect had pointed a firearm at another individual during a dispute over land ownership.

Upon serving the warrant, operatives recovered a caliber .45 pistol with four ammunition and a black sling bag.
