Security guard, laborer shot dead

Police probers are still investigating the motive behind two separate shooting incidents on May 31 and June 1 in Murcia, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City, that claimed the lives of a security guard and a laborer.

The 30-year-old security guard, whose identity was withheld by the police, was on his way home from work on Saturday night when he was gunned down by an unidentified gunman, at Locsin Street in Bacolod City, on June 1.

PMaj, Elmer Bonilla, Police Station chief 6 of the Bacolod City Police Office, disclosed that the victim, who succumbed to gunshot injury in the head, was declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Bacolod City.

Recovered from the scene of the incident were six empty shells and two deformed slugs believed to be that of a 9mm pistol.

Prior to the incident, Bonilla told RMN DYHB that the victim received death threats, which are now being investigated.

On May 31, three unidentified suspects also shot and killed a 38-year-old laborer in Barangay Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The victim, whose identity was also withheld by the police, was having a snack at a sari-sari store when three suspects arrived and shot him, without any provocation.

He died on the spot due to multiple gunshot injuries, according to the Murcia police.

Eleven empty shells and three deformed slugs of caliber .45 and 9mm pistols were recovered at the scene of the crime by the Murcia police.*
