A security guard on duty was stabbed by a bystander inside his workplace at Triumph Home Depot in Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Joenald Dialogo Villafuerte, 49-years-old, a security guard of the company, and a resident of Sitio Cadlum 2, Barangay San Agustin, Isabela, while the suspect was identified as Carl Ian Flores Titong, a 23-year-old jobless male and resident of Hacienda Carmen, Barangay Daan Banua, Kabankalan City.
Based on the investigation, the security guard was on duty when he was suddenly stabbed at the back with a kitchen knife by the suspect.
Police Captain Sammy Gasataya of Kabankalan City Police Station said that the motive of the crime was an old grudge. The suspect claimed that days before the crime, the victim had pointed a flashlight directly at the face of the suspect and was also kicked by an unknown security guard of the same establishment. Those incidents allegedly pushed the suspect to commit the crime.
The suspect was said to be mentally ill and had undergone several psychiatric treatments, based on the investigation of the Kabankalan CPS. The weapon used in the attack was recovered after the crime.
The victim was brought to the hospital for medication, while the suspect is now under the custody of the authorities.
HINIGARAN
A senior citizen was wounded in a stabbing incident at Hinigaran Public Plaza, around 12 midnight yesterday.
Initial investigation revealed that, while the suspect and victim were having a conversation, a misunderstanding arose between them. As a result, the suspect stabbed the victim several times on the chest, using a pair of scissors.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz of Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, the victim was annoying the suspect who is said to be working at a fair inside the Plaza. The suspect then grabbed the scissors and stabbed the victim three times.
Both individuals are senior citizens. The victim is Cito Vasquez, a 62-year-old male from Hinigaran, while the suspect was named as Ronie Palowa Tanagon, 61 and a resident of Himamaylan City.
The victim was brought by his friends to a nearby clinic for treatment and was later referred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Regional Hospital, while the suspect is currently in the custody of Hinigaran MPS and will be facing criminal charges, police said.*
