Sen. Bong Go an adopted son of Pontevedra

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go was declared as adopted son of Pontevedra in Negros Occidental, in recognition of his aid and support to struggling sectors, not only in the town, but in other areas of the province.

The resolution was unanimously approved on October 14 by the Sangguniang Bayan of Pontevedra, a copy of which was presented to Go, during his visit in central Negros on Oct. 19, specifically acknowledged the road construction projects that he had funded which significantly improved transportation access within the municipality.

The infrastructure developments, according to the Pontevedra council members, have not only enhanced mobility for residents, but also boosted local trade and contributed to the overall economic growth of the town.

Moreover, the resolution recognized the hospitalization and medical assistance programs initiated through Go, which have greatly benefited Pontevedra’s indigent residents.

It added that these programs have provided access to essential healthcare services, easing the financial burden of medical treatments and hospitalization for those most in need.

The resolution also highlighted Go’s timely assistance to victims of past typhoons, which brought much-needed relief to families severely affected by natural disasters.

In pursuit of local infrastructure development, Go, who led the ribbon-cutting of a road project in Barangay Antipolo, Pontevedra, also encouraged residents with medical concerns to visit the Malasakit Center, a one stop shops aimed at supporting impoverished patients, at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Go also conducted site inspections of new Super Health Centers in La Castellana and Moises Padilla.*
