Senior citizen, 6 others collared in anti-drug ops

A senior citizen and six other suspects are now locked up in jail, following their arrests in a series of anti-drug operations conducted by the police on April 12 and 13 in Negros Occidental, yielding about P151,000 worth of suspected shabu.

The apprehension of Stephen Lunita in Brgy. Old Poblacion, Escalante City on April 13 yielded P3,400 worth of suspected shabu, while recovered from Reynaldo Lagrimas in Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City, were1.5 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P10,200, its assorted paraphernalia, P500 in marked money, and P900 in cash.

The arrest of Jerry Diamante on April 12 at Bonifacio Street in Brgy. 4, Silay City, also yielded six grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P40,800, while about 10 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P68,000 was recovered by the police during the apprehension of Joeman Albios in Brgy. Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, police said.

Other drug suspects accounted for by the police were Amirul Uddin in Brgy. Ma-ao, Bago City, whose arrest yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu, and Ronald Recto in Brgy. 1 poblacion, Ilog, whose arrest resulted in the recovery of P5,100 worth of illegal drugs, a report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office said.

A senior citizen identified by the police as Socorro Reginio was also nabbed by the police in another buy bust operation also on April 12 at Purok 7, Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City.

The apprehension of Reginio, 64, yielded 3.5 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P23,800 and marked money of P500, police further said.*
