Senior citizen, motorcyclist killed in shooting incidents

A senior citizen and a motorcycle driver both died in separate shooting incidents on December 14 in Negros Occidental, with the suspects responsible remaining unidentified, as of press time.

Two motorcycle riding suspects shot and killed Jomel Espora on Wednesday, at Sitio Camp Valdez in Brgy. Mambaroto, Sipalay City, police said.

Police investigations showed that Espora and his companion, Rogie Fajardo, were both riding a motorcycle, cruising an uphill portion of the road, when they were shot by an unidentified gunman who was on another motorcycle.

Espora was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Sipalay City Health Office, while his companion was brought to a hospital in Bacolod City, for further treatment to his head injuries.

Both victims are residents of Brgy. 5, Sipalay City.

Recovered from the crime scene were four empty shells of 9mm pistol and the motorcycle owned by Espora, who succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head.

Meanwhile, a senior citizen identified by the police as Narciso David succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries as a result of a shooting incident on the same day in Hda. Alicia, Brgy. 5, Isabela, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified by the Isabela police as Narciso David, 74, of the place.

David was reported by the police to have sustained three gunshot wounds on the chest. He was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Memorial Hospital in the town of Isabela.

Three empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol were recovered by the police at the scene of incident.*
