A senior citizen was reported by the police to have burned to death, yesterday in Barangay 1 poblacion, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
Two other house occupants also suffered burn injuries, according to the Hinigaran police.
Initial investigations of the police showed that the fire, which was placed under control after 30 minutes by responding firefighters of the Bureau of Fire and Protection, destroyed the house of the victims.
A 76-year-old farmer was also found dead on February 25 at his residence in Purok Kawayan, Brgy. Tampalon, Kabankalan City.
The family of the victim ruled out foul play over his death, according to the Kabankalan City police.
The body of the victim was already in a state of decomposition when discovered by members of his family.
Prior to his death, the victim was reported to have been frequently coughing and having difficulty in breathing, according to the police.
There was no sign of forced entry into his home, the police added.*
