A 63-year-old man was waylaid and shot dead by two unidentified suspects on February 14, at Hacienda San Isidro in Barangay Bagtic, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim, a resident of Hacienda Bias 1 of Barangay Guimbalaon, Silay City, succumbed to head and stomach injuries. He was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
Initial police investigation indicated that the victim was on his way to Hacienda San Isidro, when he was gunned down by one of the two assailants, who was armed with a caliber .45 pistol.
Heated arguments also led to a stabbing incident on Feb. 14 in Barangay Agpangi, Calatrava, where the suspect is the father of the victim.
Investigations of the police showed that the 50-year-old suspect and his wife were having dinner when their 36-year-old son, who was drunk, arrived at their home.
The victim was creating trouble and threatened to kill his parents, which later led to a stabbing incident, according to the police. The victim, who suffered injuries at his right side and left forearm, is currently being treated at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital, while the suspect is under police custody.*
