The cadaver of a man was found in a field along Araneta Street beside Saint Labrador Chapel Village, at Purok Otso, Barangay Tangub in Bacolod City yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigation revealed that three witnesses reported to the police that they saw the body of a lifeless man lying in a vacant lot near the highway. According to the witnesses, they saw a suspected body from a distance, and as they went closer for inspection, they confirmed that it was a lifeless body.
The police responded to verify the report, and upon arrival, found the victim lying on the ground with an injury on his right hand. He was wearing a cap, gray T-shirt, and black shorts, and was lying on the grass. Moreover, a sachet of suspected shabu and a ‘tooter’ were recovered from the cadaver’s possession.
A resident of the area who was at the scene identified the cadaver to be his brother-in-law, leading to his identification.
The victim was identified as Jericho Perolino, 50, married, and a resident of the barangay, and was declared to have no signs of life by the responding Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers.
According to the victim’s companion, the morning before the incident, they had been together in the field. However, as they went home, the victim remained in the area for personal reasons. Another witness had reportedly seen the victim cutting electrical wires in the area before the incident.
The Bacolod City Police Office Station 8 is currently looking at death due to natural causes, possibly through heart attack, as the possible cause of the victim’s death.*
