Shabu, gun seized in northern Negros

Nearly P300,000 worth of suspected shabu and loose firearms were recovered on Thursday in separate anti-drug operations in Calatrava and Sagay City, Negros Occidental.

Police reported that a street-level individual known as alias Gene, 30 years old and unemployed, was apprehended following an operation conducted in Purok Amihan 2, Barangay Suba, Calatrava.

Recovered from his possession were approximately 40 grams of suspected shabu valued at P272,000, and a folded improvised 12-gauge shotgun, classified as a pistol-type firearm.

In another operation in Sagay City, one drug personality was arrested after police confiscated more or less 4 grams of suspected shabu, with a standard drug price of P27,200, at Phase 1, Yolanda Housing, Barangay Paraiso.

During the search, authorities also recovered a caliber .357 revolver along with ammunition.

The suspect, identified as alias Aw-Aw, 25 years old and a resident of the same barangay, is now in police custody.

Both suspects will face charges for violations of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, and RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.*
