A 26-year-old victim was shot and killed on November 5, while attending the birthday celebration of his grandmother in Brgy. Minapasok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

The victim, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the chest, was identified by the Calatrava police as Remart Rebucas, 26, of Spur 2, Brgy. Minapasok, Calatrava.

Initial police investigations showed that the suspect identified as Junjun Aligioho, 27, arrived at the scene of incident, and shot the victim without any provocation.

Aligioho immediately fled after the shooting incident, while Rebucas was declared dead on arrival at the Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Hospital in Sagay City, according to the police.

On the other hand, the victim of another shooting incident in La Carlota City survived the attempt on his life.

The victim identified as Mitchell Iligan Sr., a 47-year-old butcher, was on his way to a slaughterhouse on board a Rusi motorcycle when he was waylaid by three suspects, one of them identified by the La Carlota City police as Jepe Balbon of La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, the victim managed to seek help after the three suspects fled on board a motorcycle towards Brgy. Batuan in La Carlota City.

Iligan is now being treated for his injuries at a private hospital in Bacolod City.*
