Shooting incidents: Laborer found dead, 4 others injured

A 27-year-old laborer, who succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries, was found dead in Himamaylan City, while four others were injured in separate shooting incidents in Calatrava and Moises Padilla on January 20, police said.

The laborer, identified by the police only as Sammy, was found by his brother, Jundie, floating at a river in Sitio Suba Suay, Brgy. Mahalang, Himamaylan City.

He was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Himamaylan City.

The victim had gunshot wounds in the head, neck, among other parts of his body. His cadaver was brought to a funeral parlor in Himamaylan City for post mortem examinations.

Another victim of a shooting incident identified by the police only as Joselito, survived the attempt on his life, after he was shot by two suspects at his residence in Brgy. Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

The police were able to identify the two suspects as Ian Yorpo and a certain Benjur, both residents of Brgy. Tigbon, also of Calatrava.

The victim, who suffered two gunshot wounds, is now being treated for his injuries at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital, while the two suspects are nowhere to be found as of this time.

A minor and two other laborers were also injured after being shot by a certain Ronel, on Saturday in Brgy. Inolingan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.

The three victims are now being treated for their injuries at the Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial Hospital in Isabela, while the shooter remains at large, as of this time.*
