The Land Transportation Office–Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) to a driver involved in a fatal vehicular crash that claimed the life of an 83-year-old pedestrian in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City.
The order was served by LTO-NIR personnel, alongside the Intelligence and Investigation Unit, to the 49-year-old respondent, a resident of Ilog, Negros Occidental.
The incident occurred as the victim was crossing the street during a downpour and was struck by a Ford Ranger pickup truck and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
The SCO was formally received by the driver, who has since submitted a verified explanation to the agency.
Authorities noted that the contents of the order were clearly explained to the respondent and no untoward incidents were reported during the process.*
