The Land Transportation Office – Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) has issued a show cause order to the owner of a white Mitsubishi Expander caught on video fleeing a Bacolod fuel station after gassing up without paying.
The agency said the order was delivered to the registered vehicle owner’s residence in Barangay Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental, and received by a family member.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m. on February 27, at a gas station in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
According to police reports, the driver requested P500 worth of unleaded gasoline before fleeing the station without paying, an act that was captured on the establishment’s CCTV and later went viral on social media.
LTO-NIR personnel subsequently contacted the owner via telephone to explain the legal implications of the order and the required administrative response.
The issuance of the order requires the owner to provide a verified written explanation as to why they should not face administrative penalties, such as fines or the suspension of their driver’s license.
The agency said that this action underscores their commitment to investigating viral incidents and ensuring accountability for motorists who compromise public order and property.*
