The Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. said on Saturday that they will not impose signal jamming during the main events of the 46th MassKara Festival.
The decision was made to ensure seamless communication for festival-goers, merchants, and businesses.
“We decided not to put up signal jamming. There will be no signal jamming even if there are VIPs,” Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. Corporate Secretary and Legal Affairs head Atty. Hannah Leah Tañoso-Dela Torre said.
The festival, which will run from October 1 to 19, will instead rely on increased police visibility and a ban on backpacks as part of its security measures.
Bacolod City Police Office Director PCol. Joeresty Coronica said that they will only recommend it if President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will join the festival.
In addition, Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya also stated that he agrees with the no signal jamming.
“I noticed that there are other festivals that don’t have signal jamming,” he said, citing that signal jamming is a struggle for kiosks and visitors who cannot contact their companions.
The mayor added that the important thing is police visibility and that the numbers of peacekeeping forces will increase during the event.
The organizer made the announcement during the grand launch of the MassKara Festival 2025 held at Roy’s Hotel and Convention Center.
The schedule for a series of sectoral activities as well as pageants and cultural events was also presented.*
