The New Government Center of Silay City in Negros Occidental, which has yet to secure a building permit, has been issued with a Notice of Violation by the Office of the Building Official.
Engr. Elmer Kent Torres, City Building Official, disclosed on Monday, October 21, that a notice of violation was served to the contractor, Silver Dragon Construction and Lumber & Glass Supply on Oct. 18, which was not signed by the recipient.
Torres said the contractor was given three days, or until Oct. 23, to submit the required documents, such as the building estimates, plans and specifications, duly notarized by a lawyer, among others, to the Office of the Building Official (OBO).
The construction of the New Government Center of Silay has a budget of P500 million.
Mayor Joedith Gallego yesterday said he is not aware of the matter, and needs to verify it.
Gallego, however, admitted that construction has already started.
Even government projects have to secure a building permit. They are not exempted, Torres said.
Should they fail to comply, within three days, Torres said a final notice will be served. If not complied again, they will endorse it to the City Legal Office for appropriate actions, he further said.
Since the construction has already started at Hacienda Maquina in Brgy. Rizal, Silay City, without a building permit, Torres said they will impose fines on the contractor.*
