A graduate of Studio Arts of La Consolacion College – Bacolod opened her solo art exhibition Friday at Damgo Coffee Shop, Aguinaldo Street, Silay City showcasing her thesis book and artworks.

Patti Valencia’s show titled “Mga Hutik Halin sa Litik” (Whispers from the Breakage), is an exhibition of mixed media sculptures and drawings that represent firsthand accounts of individuals who have thrived despite growing up in broken families.

“What will our society look like in the future if families, the bedrock of our nation, fail to provide nurturing environments for children’s physical and emotional development?” This is one of the questions Patti Valencia tackled in her research on the gradual rise of dysfunctional families in the Philippines.

In her exhibition, Valencia aims to shed light on the consequences of these dark realities and inspire a way through.*
