The Silay City Fire Station, headed by City Fire Marshal FSupt. Rodel Legaspi, in partnership with Barangay Mambulac led by Barangay Capt. Hazel Cordero, conducted a mangrove planting and coastal cleanup activity in Silay City on March 10 in observance of Fire Prevention Month 2025 with the theme, “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog Hindi Ka Nag-iisa”.
The activity, aimed at promoting sustainability and safeguarding the coastal areas, was a meaningful step towards environmental resilience, highlighting the interconnectedness between fire prevention, environmental protection, and community collaboration wherein the mangrove planting is a crucial step in protecting our coastal areas from erosion and providing habitat for marine life and the coastal clean-up aims to reduce waste and pollutants that affect our waterways and the local ecosystem, a press release from BFP Silay said.
Such efforts not only aim to protect our environment but also build a stronger, more united community.*
