A day after before the start of campaign period for local candidates, the “Grupo Asenso Silay” of former Mayor Mark Golez yesterday held a fellowship with thousands of its leaders and wards at the parking area of Magikland in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Golez, who was elated by the presence of what he saw as thousands of Silaynons, described the event as a “show of force.”
Prior to the fellowship activity, a grand caravan was held by the Grupo Asenso in major areas of Silay City.
Asked what would Silaynons expect from him if elected as mayor of Silay City, Golez replied “change,” stressing that the people of Silay are aware of what is happening in their community, through social media.
The fellowship was attended by Metro 3rd congressional aspirant, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, reelectionist Board Member Andrew Montelibano and Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko, the first nominee for the Abang Lingkod partylist group.
Golez also reported that almost all barangay captains and kagawads of Silay City, barangay political coordinators, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation officials, family leaders and their wards, participated in the activity.
Asked his message to Silaynons, he said “Mark Golez is back, together with Grupo Asenso.”
Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa is the running mate of Golez, seeking the vice mayoralty position.
Golez said they will start their political sorties today.*
