The Bacolod City Police Office has recommended to the Police Regional Office 6, the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group to investigate the dumping of human bodies and dismembered body parts in Bacolod City, in recent months.

This developed as BCPO remains clueless with regard to the identification of three decomposing bodies separately discovered on April 30 and May 2, in Brgys. Felisa and Cabug, Bacolod City.

Two of the victims, one them stuffed in a sack, were discovered on Sunday inside a box culvert in Brgy. Felisa, Bacolod City.

The other victim was discovered on Tuesday, along the road in Brgy. Cabug, also in Bacolod City.

In previous months, mutilated body parts were also discovered in different areas of Bacolod City, which has alarmed Mayor Alfredo Benitez.

In a press briefing, PLt. Col. David Cachumbo, BCPO deputy director for Administration, maintained that the dumping of bodies and body parts in Bacolod City are “isolated cases.”

In support to the statement of Cachumbo, PMaj. Nestor Bacuyag, the designated spokesman of BCPO, also disclosed that Bacolod City remains generally peaceful, as their crime statistics showed that the 8 Focus Crime incidents are very low, aside from the dumping of bodies and body parts in different areas of the highly urbanized city.

The 8 Focus Crimes composed of murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car napping and motorcycle theft.

Bacuyag also said that they are now coordinating with police stations of La Castellana and Silay City, Negros Occidental, where three missing persons have been reported.

The possible involvement of vigilante groups is also being looked into by the BCPO, which is also exerting efforts to establish the motive behind in dumping of bodies and mutilated body parts in the city.

If the creation of SITG is approved, Cachumbo said it will be led by the BCPO director, under the supervision of Police Regional Office 6.*
