
St. John’s Institute captured the inaugural 18 and Under Volleyball Girls title in the Filipino Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) 2025 National Games last April 5, held at the Chiang Kai Shek College Narra Gym, Metro Manila.
SJI overcame opening set jitters and beat the home court advantage to defeat Chiang Kai Shek College in the finals 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-9.
SJI earlier defeated Hua Siong College of Iloilo 25-11, 25-18, 25-18, and Jubilee Christian Academy 25-12, 25-9, and 25-11.
SJI dominance was on display as it swept the elimination round and dropped only one set throughout the tourney.
High flying outside hitter from SJI, Caera Celis, was adjudged as the tournament Most Valuable Player.
The team is mentored by Head Coach Ralph Savellano and Asst. Coach Patrick John Dama, Other team members are Marthena Echarri, Marteena Ferrer, Andrea Nicole Gison, Antonella Jayobo, Leeyan Amber Lobaton, Therese Ann Tad-y, Beatrice Tamayo, Eileen Susan Gabrielle Yanson, Maria Rhianna Yee, Samantha Young, and Ma. Samantha Zapata.
The National Chinese Sporting meet among Chinese Schools will continue and will be held every 2 years. Also participating were Pace Academy, Cebu Eastern College, MGC New Life Christian Academy, Ateneo De Iloilo-Sta. Maria Catholic School, Immaculate Conception Academy, and Trinity Christian School.*
