Almost a week after 15-year-old Pearl Joy Galve was found dead inside a sugarcane field in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, her stepfather, Rene John Nacis, who is insinuated to be involved in her death, surfaced yesterday, to clear his name.
Nacis is now under the custody of the Criminal Investigation Detection Group – Bacolod Field Office.
In an interview with RMN DYHB, Nacis strongly denied insinuations that he may have something to do with the death of his stepdaughter.
Galve, a student of Sum-ag National High School in Bacolod City, was buried on Monday, while her death remains an unsolved crime.
The minor was reported missing on July 29, until August 14, when her cadaver was found in a state of decomposition by a laborer, inside a canefield at Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City.
Nacis claimed that he went to Iloilo before Pearl Joy was found dead on Aug. 14, due to problems with his live-in partner, Jennifer Galve, the mother of the victim.
He added that he has no idea as to whoever is behind her death.
Jennifer disclosed on Tuesday that her daughter had been molested by her live-in partner.
A reward of P50,000 is being offered by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez for any information that could lead to the solution of the mystery of the death of the Grade 10 student.*
